Just like inclusiveness, environmental issues are, for Front Runners, essential to defend. This is why, over the years of the race, we have implemented and enriched our actions for an eco-responsible race.
Energy and transport:
- The race site is accessible by public transport (metro, bus) and by bike (Vélib stations nearby); participants are strongly encouraged to use these means of transport;
- The use of generators is limited to what is strictly necessary for the timing to run smoothly; the groups run on unleaded gasoline thanks to a loan from Mairie de Paris.
Water and plastic:
- Water supplies are provided with Eau de Paris;
- No plastic bottles are used and our supplies are made using reusable cups provided by Mairie de Paris (recovered and reused at Parisian sporting events); Participants are encouraged to use their own reusable cup.
Waste and products used:
- Waste is sorted at the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont and at the Gymnase Jean Jaurès;
- The race signage is made using ecological chalk and biodegradable tape;
- Supplies are offered in bulk and in adjusted quantities.
Communication:
- We do not do any paper distribution and displays are reduced;
- The “goodies” are limited, the runner gift is sustainable, encouraging the racing public to adopt eco-responsible behaviour. In addition, no polluting textiles are offered to participants.
Partner association:
- The association Up Sport ! will collect donations of sports equipment in good condition, intended for asylum seekers, refugees, undocumented immigrants, isolated women and victims of violence, to remove the obstacles to sports practice.
